The Ultimate Guide to Homebirth Midwives in the Greater Nashville Area

I’m Amanda, the doula behind Rose Birth Services. I support families throughout the Nashville area during pregnancy and birth — and I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside many of the midwives in this community.

And one of the most common things I see?

Mamas thinking they have to choose between support.

You don’t.

Why Midwives and Doulas Make a Great Team

Your midwife and your doula serve completely different roles — and when they work together well, it creates a really steady, supported birth space.

Your midwife is your care provider.

She’s responsible for:

  • your medical care

  • monitoring you and baby

  • helping you make clinical decisions

Your doula is there for you, physical, mental, spiritual

I’m focused on:

  • helping you stay grounded

  • supporting you through labor moment by moment

  • walking with you through decisions as they come up

  • making sure you don’t feel alone in it

It’s not either/or.

It’s a team.

And when it’s a good fit across the board, it really does feel like everything just… flows.

Final Thoughts on Homebirth Support in Nashville

If you’re considering home birth, there’s usually a reason.

Something in you is pulling toward it.

Toward being in your own space.

Toward a slower, more grounded kind of care.

And I’ll just say this — as both a doula and a homebirth mama myself…

There’s something really special about it.

The quiet.

The familiarity.

The way your body gets to just… do what it was created to do without interruption.

It’s not chaotic.

It’s not what most people imagine.

When you’re prepared, supported, and working with a skilled midwife, home birth can be an incredibly safe and steady option for many families.

I believe that deeply.

(My husband does too — he’s honestly become a bit of a homebirth evangelist at this point.)

But what makes the biggest difference isn’t just where you give birth.

It’s how you prepare.

And who you have around you.

The right midwife.

The right support.

A space that allows you to stay grounded in what’s happening instead of feeling pulled in every direction.

You don’t have to rush into a decision.

Take your time.

Ask questions.

Pay attention to what feels steady and right for you.

And if you want someone walking alongside you in that — I’m here.
